The Artist’s Way Course

Reconnect with Your Creativity and Find Your Voice with The Artist’s Way

Join me for a 10-week guided exploration of The Artist’s Way at Evolution, in Central Brighton.

This is a nurturing space to reconnect with your creativity in a deep and meaningful way.

Whether you’re an artist, writer, musician, or simply someone yearning to rediscover a sense of play and possibility, this course offers a structured yet soulful approach to creative recovery.

Each week, we dive into one of the core themes from Julia Cameron’s seminal book, The Artist’s Way, moving beyond discussion into direct experience.

Through guided meditations, poetry, and imagery, we will endeavour to engage the right brain—the seat of imagination and intuition—awakening creative flow from within.

We will explore powerful topics such as:

  • Recovering a Sense of Safety – Releasing creative blocks and self-doubt
  • Recovering a Sense of Abundance – Opening to joy, possibility, and a rich creative life
  • Recovering a Sense of Connection – Trusting inspiration and creative instincts
  • Recovering a Sense of Strength – Overcoming resistance and reclaiming creative confidence

Testimonials

Andrea

“Bella has been a great course facilitator, she’s so at home with the course content having had personal experience going through the course herself several times as well as teaching it.

I really appreciate the way Bella delivers the course using her own experiences blended with the book, it’s clear she’s spent a lot of time exploring the content she uses.

Bella weaves poetry, imagery, tools and props into every session creating a beautiful composition which fills up the two hour class each week, I was often surprised how quickly the time went by!

Each week we had the opportunity to participate in various tasks using different mediums to exercise and explore our creativity within the topic, I often surprised myself with the outcome!

Another bonus I’ve met some great people on the course who I’ll continue to keep in touch with and I’ll definitely be back to do the course again.”

Nicola

“I found the Artists Way course inspirational and would highly recommend it.

The tasks, artist dates, walks and pages culminated in an outpouring of happiness and creativity for me.

Bella set the tone and guided our group thoughtfully and kindly and we supported each other in the same way.”

Emma

“Bella’s Artist’s Way course creates a safe, holding and inspiring container to support participants to work through Julia Cameron’s creative recovery course.

I have done the Artist’s Way several times in my life, but this was my first time in a group setting. This really helped me with motivation to keep going with the course.

Bella’s creative, warm and empathic approach, helped to create a safe and inclusive environment.

She encouraged each of us to go at our own pace, which I found really supportive.

Bella’s warm up visualizations, and invitations to join in creative activities including collaging, reflective writing, free style drawing, and working with postcard images and toys were all really helpful ways of encouraging our ‘artist children’ to play and have fun!

The peer support was invaluable both during the course and afterwards. I was feeling extremely stuck on many levels before I began this course.

The Artist’s Way has helped me to change my life and help my creativity to free-flow once again.

Thank you so much Bella!”

Brian

“I really appreciated the effort Bella had gone to, to bring Julia Cameron’s themes to life in different ways each week, always encouraging us to share our thoughts together and explore our creativity with different exercises. The way she created an inspiring and nurturing place where we all felt we could open up was very impressive.

As someone with no drawing or painting skills to speak of (!) it was good to be encouraged to explore that side in a free, playful way – I even eventually made something I was happy with, and ended up printing it off as a postcard for each of my classmates at the end of the course.

The weekly writing exercises were also helpful and I liked how Bella started each session with a short meditation to help us arrive in the creative space.

It felt like a safe, nurturing and supportive space where people felt free to be themselves and open up to each other.”

Karen

“The most encouraging thing about it is that I know I have a meeting once a week with some others who are struggling with similar things, ie. being a’ stuck artist’.

It’s so helpful and somehow a great relief to be with people who understand it’s not just a question of ‘just do a course’, ‘just draw every day’ etc etc.

There’s more at stake here. These blockages go back to childhood!

The exercises pretty much only got done in my experience because of the accountability of having the group every week!

I’ve definitely made some small steps towards making things since the course finished, and in fact during the course I started sorting stuff out at home and chucking some things out. “

“I found the Artists Way course at Evolution Arts a great way to get into a positive mindset and to start to rediscover my creative self.

It was my first experience of the Artist’s Way and I found this facilitated group a really helpful and supportive way to navigate both the philosophy of the book and the tasks to support the process.

Bella was a good leader, each session was well organised with lots of resources and she created a safe space for us all to get to know each other and to share our progress through the course.  I plan to continue with the journey and would totally recommend this course.”
